Obligatory New Year Post [UPDATE] Ben Levy 31, December

I don’t do resolutions, but I do like to look back on what happened in the past year. If any of you are interested, here we go:

2008 was “the year of the adult”. See, in Dec of 07 I got married, graduated ad school, and got a job. So most of 2008 was the aftermath of all that.

In the past year, I did (or started) all the things mentioned in this post. I also got a dog, lost 10lbs, weathered the agency I worked for being “mass hired” by another agency, and didn’t do anything to make my wife divorce me. I also started teaching, but I’ll talk about that another day.

I watched the Olympics with more excitement than ever before (I still don’t know why). I saw the election of the first black president of the US. And I watched gas top $4/gallon, and then drop to less than 2.

And I was lucky enough to keep my job, my car, and my home in an economy where thousands were not so fortunate.

Over all, 2008 was a damn good year. The next 365 days are going to see some major changes in my life, but I’m feeling pretty good about them. Bring it on 2009.

(We’re one year closer to those flying cars.)

Happy New Years, everybody.

[UPDATE] Man this post was lame. Apologies, I wrote it a few hours before 2009, and I had already started celebrating. However, since I never make a mistake, we’ll just say that I intentionally made the last post of 2008 suck so that all the posts in 2009 look better by comparison. Now go set off a firecracker you crazy kid.

Phew. Ben Levy 30, December

It was a not-insignificant undertaking for me to get up the first time. The next day Wordpress dropped a major update. There was no way I was going to wreck the site less than 24 hours after finishing it. So I waited.

I have now successfully updated the site. You’ll notice nothing at all appears to have changed.

That means it worked.

This post is gay. Ben Levy 26, December

I had a whole post written about how advertisers work in teams, and how deep and symbiotic that relationship is. But it was all just an excuse to post this video anyway.

I bring this up because I saw my old partner in NYC last week, and this picture got taken:

It’s hard to see, but our hands are making a heart. And yes, we pretty much fit the stereotypes of Turk and JD. With the exception of me being married, and him getting more ass than a toilet seat.

Of course, we’ll see how our relationship fares once someone tells him I posted that photo.

Welcome, one and all. Ben Levy 1, December

Hiya, blogspot readers. Nice to see you again.

Hiya, new readers. Nice to see you.

Now, I’m not trying to play favorites, new readers, but the blogspot readers have been here since the beginning. So you’ve got some catching up to do. I’ve made it a little easier by categorizing the Best of BrokenJPG. It’s kinda like CliffsNotes: you won’t actually have read the whole thing, but you’ll know enough to pass the test at the end.

There’s a bunch of minor things left to fix on the site, but I’ll get to them as we go along. In the meantime, let’s get back to the sarcasm. It’s been like a freakin’ week already.

I was feeling itchy.
